Equipment is often added to a business as and when it is needed it is setup proven to work and left, this can lead to a disorganised naming convention where the device name does not relate to the business.

It is good practice to use a naming convention that identifies the equipment not the person using it

Label all equipment with its network name and use a security marking with the company details

Keep an up to date spreadsheet listing all equipment its location and the services it provides
